SARU (monkey in Japanese) + STAR (my grandma Stella)= SARUSTAR, a personal amalgamation of what my business/ life/ the act of making things is to me. It is the playful and sometimes haphazard way things come together to make life beautiful.
Handmade jewelry showcasing the unsung gems of the world.
Fool's gold anyway. Pyrite is one of my favorites. I had completely forgotten until this post, but when I was in maybe 4th grade(?) we had "Student of the Week". Did your school have that? When it was our week, we'd bring in a table display worth of stuff about us on Monday and present it to the class on Friday. Basically, an intense Show & Tell. I brought in my rock collection, and a boy in my class stole my pyrite because he thought it was gold. Really, that's what he said when his mother made him bring it back and apologize. I feel like there's some important life lesson or metaphor in there somewhere, but... I'm not connecting the dots right now.
Pyrite cube set in oxidized sterling silver.
