About SARUSTAR
SARUSTAR jewelry is created in Brooklyn, NY by Sayo Granich-Lee.
SARU (monkey in Japanese) + STAR (my grandma Stella)= SARUSTAR, a personal amalgamation of what my business/ life/ the act of making things is to me. It is the playful and sometimes haphazard way things come together to make life beautiful.
Handmade jewelry showcasing the unsung gems of the world.

67- Herkimer Diamond with Blue Chalcedony
Herkimer diamond and blue chalcedony, set with little recycled silver balls. It feels like forever ago when I made this pendant. It's been quite a while since I've made anything new. Being on the west coast has been pretty wonderful, but I really do miss my jewelry bench! And while I did bring a few tools and supplies with me, working out the logistics... -
67- Pink Plastic Whistle, Transformed.
Luca came home from a birthday party (a while back) with this pink whistle in his goodie bag. Much like the Japanese whistle ring (pendant #31) from what seems like a lifetime ago, I turned this pretty pink whistle into a pendant. It's been the kind of thing where one little project turns into another little project and then suddenly I have a monster project on my hands, and now I'm at the point where I just really want to get it done with it already. (I so many things I should be doing instead,... -
65- Googly Eyed Rainbow Love
Alright, so this is a weird one. Luca had a rubber rainbow keychain that he got on Halloween. It broke, and he said I could have it for jewelry. (He's been so generous with his discarded toys and things ever since the Squash-a-Tron incident.) I had planned to make this in the same vein, but then realized I had no leftover plexiglass remnants since... -
64- Pebble Pendant OR The Triumphant Trio... of DOOM!
Not of doom. I think this one turned out pretty nice, actually. Melted blobs of metal- one silver, and one that apparently has some brass or copper in it, plus a faceted green chalcedony. So, FYI, before leaving New York, I finished up as many pendants as I could, took some quick pictures of them, uploaded them to the blog (some with tentative titles...
